Comment on Average AMC Appraisal Fee to the Appraiser by Raymond

In reply to Eric Kretz. Interesting that the AMCs set their (low) appraisal fee based on a some business profit goal and the typical appraiser is suppose to set their appraisal fee based on the complexity of the appraisal assignment. Two opposing standards and opinions. AMC’s have taken over the entire appraisal process. So AMC’s appraisers comply or leave.

I don’t know what your business model is. The AMC’s love “set fees” If I cross the street to do an appraisal it’s $XXX for the fee. But if I have to drive to the other end of the county (they’re HUGE here in Washington State) they will pay you the same fee. If you deviate; they find someone else. Setting fees is an antiquated model.
