Division Highlight: Viking Mergers & Acquisitions in Nashville, TN

Vikingmergers

Kyle Kerrigan grew up surrounded by a spirit of adventure, risk, and purpose. His father is a surgeon who served overseas in mission hospitals in Ecuador and Kenya during Kyle’s most formative years. This robust childhood filled with new places, people, and experiences helped shape Kyle, fueling an entrepreneurial spirit and vastly influencing his approach, priorities, and motivation in business.

Kyle always knew he wanted to get into business. This desire drew him forward as he earned an ROTC scholarship and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BBA in Finance. After serving a short time in the US Army, he completed his International MBA from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.

As he embarked on his business journey, Kyle planned to begin in corporate America while figuring out what business he wanted to start himself. That “beginning” turned into over 15 years of business development, finance, and operations experience with some of the most respected names in American business.

Although successful in the corporate world, it never truly satisfied Kyle’s entrepreneurial spirit. He eventually decided it was time to buy a business, which is when he intersected with Viking Mergers & Acquisitions. At the time, Viking was looking for someone to open a division of business advisors in Nashville, TN. Although it was a shift from his original plan, the Viking division in Nashville combined a few essentials for Kyle: his entrepreneurial drive to build something meaningful, his finance background and experience in business transactions, and his natural ability and inclination toward helping people.

As much as he is driven toward finance and operations, Kyle is driven even more by relationships. Most important in his position as a business advisor in Nashville, TN, is having the knowledge, resources, and skill to help people transition from having a business for 10, 20, 30 years to the next step, whatever that may be. One of Kyle’s clients has poured himself into his business for almost 45 years! It is a meaningful thing to come alongside a person and assist with the biggest transition of their life.

Advice If You Are Thinking Of Selling A Business

If you are thinking of selling your business, remember it is never too early to consider your exit plan. Having a plan opens up your options; not having a plan limits them. It is also important to sell while you still feel like you can be successful in your business. If you wait until you burn out, it will be harder to set up the transaction you are hoping for.

Like all of Viking’s divisions, our business advisors in Nashville, TN, engage with potential clients early on in the sales process and remain engaged until the timing is right for the client. Every business is different, and so are the needs of the business owner, especially when forming an exit strategy.  Our advisors understand that selling a business is not an isolated event. Rather, it is a process that deserves careful planning, communication, and execution.
