Message from the CEO

ASA’s CEO letter to members and friends

February was a whirlwind of activities and traveling to meet members and those interested in the appraiser profession. As we continue navigating the infusion of going back to being in person while also using the tools and technology we’ve learned from the pandemic, the general awareness of ASA and the appraisal industry in general has gotten stronger through strategic and collaborative efforts and appearances.

This past month, ASA joined forces with Equipment Leasing Finance Association (ELFA) where I moderated the webinar: “ASA- Why it Makes a Difference” alongside 3 expert panelists of our own, Paul Cogley, ASA, William Engel, ASA and Michael Salvador, ASA. There was a wealth of information provided during the webinar which served as the perfect teaser to the ELFA conference in Tucson, AZ shortly thereafter.

In Tucson, I had the privilege of seeing some of our GJ members at the AGTA Gemfair Show and also meeting others in the profession. This is the 2nd time I’ve attended and still amazed by all the gemstones and learning about their processes, and how the ways the industry is evolving.

I participated as a speaker at the 9th USCAS – US Corporate Aviation Summit in Fort Lauderdale this past month. This event was one of the first major Corporate Aviation conference of 2022 so it was an honor representing ASA at such a major event where I was not only able to share key insights into valuing the aircraft appraiser, but I learned a lot from the other speakers that were also part of the program.

From Ft. Lauderdale back to Tucson, at the ELFA conference, Richard Berkemeier and I had the pleasure of meeting several ASA members and potential members while promoting the 4th (revised) edition of Valuing Machinery and Equipment and our upcoming program Certified Equipment Management Professional (CEMP) on behalf of ASA.

On March 31, join ASA’s John Russel, JD as he presents ASA’s new webinar, DC Update: Legislation, Regulations, and the Midterm Elections, where he will walk through what has (and has not) happened in the 117th Congress, with a look ahead to where things may go as a result of November’s midterm elections. John will also cover ASA’s recent amicus efforts in the 4th Circuit and provide an update on exciting changes with ASA Headquarters.

On a final note, don’t miss ASA’s upcoming events including ASA’s 11th Annual Equipment Valuation Conference in Charlotte, NC (and virtually) on April 20-22; as well as the 2022 ASA Australia Equipment Valuation Conference (also via hybrid format), that is happening on May 12 to continue our efforts in accommodating more of our international members.

A date and location have also been selected for the first in-person ASA Fair Value Conference since 2019. Mark your calendars for June 16 and plan to attend the event live in Hoboken, NJ or virtually. Look for more updates on our website and email communications.
