Message from the CEO

This past month I have been attending industry events and actively working with our staff on new member resources and association development initiatives preparing for the new calendar year.

ASA takes Miami –

I welcomed November in Florida while attending the Corporate Jet Investor (CJI) Miami Conference as a moderator for the session How to Read the Market. Panelists Richard Berkemeier, ASA, International President; David Crick, ASA, International Past President; and Jay Mesinger did a fantastic job discussing the different views between a ‘broker’ and ‘appraiser’ as well as sharing their insights on the market’s changeability based on varying conditions. Janine Iannarelli was also instrumental in contributing to the topics discussed.

While in Miami, I also had the pleasure of visiting the leaders of ASA’s Miami Chapter. I always enjoy meeting up with members of ASA, seeing the Miami Chapter was no different. I’m glad I had the opportunity to discuss all that is going on with ASA with another Chapter, in person.

ASA news –

ASA has been rolling out more tools to help members participate in The ASA Difference Campaign. ASA has partnered with Canva to offer accredited members the ASA Difference Member Toolkit, a free turnkey for digital marketing tools that helps members promote themselves or their business while also raising awareness of the ASA credential’s credibility and importance. The ASA International Nominating and Awards Committee has extended the deadline to submit your 2023-24 ASA Secretary/Treasurer nominations to December 15, 2022. I strongly encourage all designated members to take a few minutes and nominate your new board member, who will be a pivotal part of the Society’s leadership and shaping of its future.

December 15 is also the last day we will accept submissions for content contributors. ASA is looking for a few solid appraisers to partner with in expanding our virtual and OnDemand learning content library. Got an idea for a webinar, OnDemand course, or chapter presentation? There are even more ways for you to be a part of the ongoing evolution of ASA. Now through January 1, 2023, we are seeking new volunteers to serve on ASA’s discipline committees, subcommittees, and local chapters. You can also sign on to become a Mentor or write an article. The insights and ideas of experienced member appraisers help give ASA that cutting edge over other organizations, allowing us to maintain the status of being the leading appraisal association worldwide. I recommend anyone looking to add value to the organization, the industry in general, or even your professional profile to look at the opportunities available and sign up.
